Why did Dr. Stone become a Urogynecologist?
"This is one of the most common questions people ask of me. There are several reasons why I chose to be a Urogynecologist including an affinity towards surgery, and the ability to drastically improve my patients’ lives.
Although many pelvic floor disorders don’t require surgery, many of these problems can be addressed surgically. The surgeries are very advanced and technically challenging, which is something that I enjoy.
More importantly, I enjoy increasing my patients’ quality of life. Nothing brings a bigger smile to my face than someone telling me that they have their life back. Problems such as urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse are deeply personal and can devastating effects on someone’s emotional and physical health. We often don’t realize how critical the function of the pelvic floor truly is, until it stops functioning correctly."
