Valley Urogynecology Associates
Dr. Stone joined Valley Urogynecology Associates in 2017. It is the largest group of fellowship-trained and board-certified urogynecologists in Arizona. Together, our mission is to combine the art and science of pelvic floor medicine to provide individualized and compassionate care plans for each and every patient we see. Each specialist at Valley Urogynecology s has completed additional formal fellowship training in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery and is board certified in both obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (FPMRS).
Dr. Paul Marshburn
Dr. Marshburn received his medical degree and master’s of public health at Tulane University School of Medicine in 1990. He completed residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Tulane University and a fellowship in urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery at Greater Baltimore Medical Center/University of Maryland in 1998. He has been in private practice at Valley Urogynecology Associates since 1998. Dr. Marshburn is a member of the American Urogynecology Society. He is a frequent lecturer and teacher on topics relating to urinary incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction. He lives in Phoenix with his family and enjoys woodworking and gardening.
Dr. Felipe Videla
Dr. Felipe Videla is a fellowship-trained and board-certified urogynecologist and reconstructive pelvic surgeon. He is an alumni of the University of Michigan and received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He joined the Air Force in 1991 and did his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He then completed a fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, finishing in 1998. After residency, he served as the chief of urogynecology and gynecologic services Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. While at Keesler AFB, he trained OB/GYN residents in pelvic floor surgery and gynecology. After 11 years of active duty service, he separated from the military and joined Dr. Marshburn to form Valley Urogynecology Associates. Since coming to Phoenix, Dr. Videla has been a member of the clinical faculty for the OB/GYN residency training programs at Banner University Medical Center and the Creighton University School of Medicine at St. Joseph’s Medical Center. He is also a member of the clinical faculty at Midwestern University and gives lectures to the University of Arizona medical students.
Dr. Videla specializes in advanced vaginal prolapse repair techniques and the treatment of urinary and fecal incontinence. Dr. Videla is fluent in Spanish and has given numerous lectures and courses to fellow physicians on advanced surgical techniques throughout the US and internationally. Dr. Videla incorporates functional medicine as part of a comprehensive pelvic floor program for his clients.
Dr. Shazia Malik
Dr. Shazia A Malik is the only female surgeon in the Valley who is double board-certified in gynecology and urogynecology (female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery) while being fellowship-trained in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
After being raised in St. Louis, Missouri, she was admitted to medical school directly from high school and completed her undergraduate education and medical school from the University of Missouri Kansas City. In 2001, she completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Malik then moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she completed a fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at the Nezhat Medical Center. Furthering her surgical training, she completed a fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She joined Valley Urogynecology Associates in 2007.
Dr. Malik currently serves as the Director of Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital. She is involved in educating resident physicians in obstetrics and gynecology at both the Banner Good Samaritan and St Joseph’s Hospital programs by teaching surgical/clinical skills, giving didactic lectures, and mentoring research projects. She serves as clinical faculty at the University of Arizona, School of Medicine involved in the anatomy laboratory and in giving lectures. She has received several awards commending her surgical skills, teaching ability, and humanitarianism.
Dr. Malik specializes in minimally invasive treatments of moderate to severe pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence, voiding dysfunction, genitourinary fistulas while using advanced surgical techniques such as Da Vinci Robotics and Sacral Neuromodulation. She is involved with clinical research and has given presentations throughout the US and Europe. She is a member of the American Urogynecology Society, a member of the International Urogynecology Association, and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Malik is dedicated to educating and providing care for women with these disorders while striving to provide a comfortable and safe environment for patients.
She currently resides in Phoenix with her family. In her free time, she enjoys painting, Zumba, playing racquetball/ tennis, and spending time with her children and husband.
